Ideas:
1.Start of class: give out questionares like favorite food, favorite drink, favorite color
2.Brown bag it :

allowing students bringing 5 items that represent themselves.
My 5 items might be.. hurm.. i might have to think this thoroughly so I wont be teaching bad values to them.. :P
